The one-liner
A free Skool community for bartenders building mixology and bar management skills.
What they actually sell
BarCode, run by Ivan Mistric, lives on Skool. Its public pitch: "Founded for bartenders, to improve your skills behind the bar, learn basic & advanced mixology and master your bar managing and cocktail creation." It is free to join. Ivan Mistric's list covers bar management, social skills, mobile bar business, mixology, saving money and cutting waste, equipment, cocktail menus, classics and signatures. The classroom holds written courses, currently promoted at half price: a Bartender Course for beginners covering spirits, wine, beer, coffee, equipment and cocktails, and a Bar Manager course of more than 20 lessons on marketing, glassware, psychology, pricing, setup, menus and waste. Inside sit 6 courses.
Who pays and why
Bartenders, bar managers, owners and cocktail lovers in a demanding trade. They want to get better behind the bar and run a tighter, more profitable operation. They join for written bartending and bar management courses and peer advice.
Where the members come from
The Skool lander and Ivan Mistric's own teaching appear to be the main acquisition path. Public social links are thin on the about page, so growth reads as community-led rather than a giant media brand. Exact follower counts stay off the about page.
What's holding it back
Written courses are a hard sell in a hands-on trade where people learn by doing shifts. The discount messaging inside a free group also blurs what is free and what is paid.
Steal this
Split your course by career stage, one for newcomers and one for managers, so each buyer sees their next step.
Would this work in another niche?
Yes for baristas, sommeliers or chefs. Weak where the trade is regulated by formal qualifications.
