Notes
Teardown notes
The one-liner
A freemium executive career room with live coaching from a headhunter pair.
What they actually sell
CareerMastery is Adrian Choo and SzeYen Chee's community for ambitious executives. Free access covers career news, tips, coaching videos, live sessions, and job-search tools. Premium adds monthly private webinars, weekly fireside chats with Adrian and Yen, limited pizza networking, and a Career Currency Map report. VIP is annual and adds six private 1:1 sessions, a strategy audit, masterclasses, and WhatsApp or email coach support. Public display price is not shown as a single sticker on the lander.
Who pays and why
Senior professionals who fear stagnating through market change. They want recruiter-grade candour and live rooms with people who have sat on the other side of hiring, not another generic LinkedIn course.
Where the members come from
Adrian's bio leans on two decades of C-suite headhunting, radio, and Channel NewsAsia. The community reads as the membership arm of that personal brand. Exact channel sizes are not on the Skool page.
What's holding it back
Freemium with light public activity can stall if free members lurk and Premium networking seats stay scarce. Pizza events do not scale beyond a local circle.
Steal this
Put recruiter-authored tools on a free tier, then sell Premium as recurring live access to the named headhunters.
Would this work in another niche?
Yes for other professional services where practitioners have hiring-side credibility, such as in-house counsel or product leadership circles. Weak for early-career topics that need volume mentoring more than executive peer rooms.
