The one-liner
A pro colour-grading membership that bundles Cullen Kelly's tools, science and live rooms.
What they actually sell
Colorist Inc. is Cullen Kelly's classroom for colourists and filmmakers who want craft plus science. The public offer is $209 a month, with a price-lock warning before 1 October. Inside sit Genesis Pro and the plugin suite, DCTL and LUT libraries, a Dolby Vision workshop, the coloristOS grading system, look-dev masterclasses, live calls with working colourists, and a calibration discount. Premium adds coaching, a business-of-colour system, and direct access to Cullen. The about page frames over $3,200 of pro tools alone. No trial or refund promise is spelled out.
Who pays and why
Working colourists and filmmakers who grade under time pressure and imperfect footage. The fear is guessing looks while clients expect filmic images. They pay for a named ASC-adjacent teacher plus tools they can open on the next job.
Where the members come from
Cullen's reputation as a colour scientist who has taught tens of thousands and graded for Netflix, HBO and Apple is the funnel. The about page does not show follower counts, so the brand itself is the acquisition engine.
What's holding it back
At $209 a month with Premium coaching layered on top, capacity sits with Cullen. If live access thins while the tool pack stays static, the premium feel can slip into a software locker.
Steal this
Bundle your own pro tool suite into the membership fee so buyers feel they are joining a kit, not renting a forum.
Would this work in another niche?
Yes for other craft trades with expensive software stacks, such as mixing or VFX look-dev. Weak for soft coaching topics with no tool to gift.

“Hanging with Cullen and learning more about this craft of colour just gets better and better. Really great community that is stepping out to help each other just as much as being taught by a master.”
