The one-liner

A paid career school for people building quantitative and data careers in energy.

What they actually sell

The Energy Data Scientist, run by Dr. Spyros Giannelos, lives on Skool. Its public pitch: "Build a quantitative career in the energy sector with personalised training and career support." The paid door is Standard at $29 a month. Premium and VIP tiers sit above that. A free trial is available on the join path. The page lists 100+ fully explained, downloadable Python and GAMS models, 100+ downloadable presentations, research papers and reports, step-by-step support to build energy projects and your online portfolio, and Ask questions about courses, with replies typically within 24 hours. Inside sit 124 courses and a dense module library. A formal money-back promise is not spelled out on the about page.

Who pays and why

Builders and operators who feel behind on AI and do not want another tool graveyard. The fear is peers shipping while they still prompt in circles. They pay for proven workflows and a practice room for applied AI.

Where the members come from

Dr. Spyros Giannelos's LinkedIn and website presence appears to feed the room. The Skool community reads as the member back end for people already drawn to that work. Exact follower counts stay off the public page.

What's holding it back

AI rooms age in weeks. If workflows go stale, members who paid for edge will leave.

Steal this

Sell AI community as weekly workflows members can run, not a tool directory.

Would this work in another niche?

Yes for other applied AI practice communities. Weak for prompt dump channels.

“I like that all code/videos are based on actual energy work , with minimal theory. Also, I like that they allow all the code (and more files) to be downloadable. And immediately upon subscription they give access to the full library of online courses without limits. They also reply fast eg 1 day. Instructor & many members are established experts. Generous pricing as well. I recommend the group for any work or study related to economics/finance around energy. Reliable & professional work.”

“I'm very grateful to DrSpyros & all community members for all the files/papers/PDF/Slides /models/code that they share! I ask a question& get a reply from an expert in just hours! I watch videos as a beginner, and feel I understand the code. I write an article, and get useful feedback. I want feedback on a career decision, & get it. This is a top quality private professional group around everything energy (coal, gas, Lng, geopolitics, macro, finance etc). Very active network & job support”

“For over a year, I've train on optimisation & machine learning energy models. I focus on oil, LNG and natural gas macroeconomic/econometric models. Also on power markets. I incorporated derivatives, smart grid, renewables, reinforcement learning and ML ops. Also optimization under uncertainty (stochastic/robust). Lots of code reviews & energy projects on GitHub. I recommend the VIP membership. It costs ~150 USD/month which is too low for the value it offers (better than university by far)!”

“These lessons are excellent for data scientists and researchers who want to pursue careers in the energy trading and storage sectors. I can recommend them to everyone.😊”

“This is the only comprehensive energy group I could find online. The community members share downloadable resources that I have found very useful, especially the papers. Also I like the self-paced learning. The courses cover topics useful for my career. Specifically, smart grid, Machine learning for energy, Monte Carlo for energy, power system economics , optimisation, and derivatives, git/github, Claude code/codex, ML ops for energy etc. Also the instructor is a well-known authority. I give 5/5”
